The William Jewell College baseball team claimed a pair of victories over Maryville University on Saturday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo.

Jewell captured a 10-1 win in game one before prevailing 8-2 in the nightcap.

Clark O'Dowd paced the Cardinal offense with two hits and three RBi's including a solo home run.   Garrett Callen picked up three hits and two RBIs, Bryan Rezin had two hits and three RBI's and David Smith finished the game two for five with two runs scored. 

Jewell scored three runs in the top of the first, one in the fourth, four in the sixth and two in the ninth. 

David Collins (3-3) started game one on the mound for Jewell and tossed eight innings while racking up five strikeouts and only allowing four hits.  Blaze Carano worked one inning of relief for Jewell. 

In game two, the Cardinals jumped out to a 5-0 lead by scoring two in the second and three in the third.  Maryville plated home two runs in the bottom of the fourth but Jewell answered back with three more in the top of the sixth inning. 

Willie Gaball finished two for four with two RBI's and a run scored, Tom Herrera finished two for three with two RBI's and a run scored and Trevor Bowden finished three for four with an RBI and two runs scored. 

Great Lakes Valley Conference pitcher of the week Cody Downing continued to impress tossing a complete game giving up eight hits while striking out five. 

The Cardinals,  10-12 on the year, will face Maryville University again tomorrow for another twinbill starting at 12:00 p.m. on the Maryville Campus in St. Louis, Mo.
