William Jewell College wasrecognized by the NCAA Division II as the Great Lakes Valley Conference winner of the Community Engagement Award of Excellence. A video feature, description and pictures of Cardinal baseball's Challenger Camp held in January was highlighted in the presentation to the NCAA.

Mike Stockton and his players held the event for the 13th consecutive year, with all proceeds going to the YMCA Challenger Program.
Community engagement is a Division II initiative directed at building meaningful, long-lasting bridges among athletics programs, their institutions and the communities in which they are located. William Jewell was recognized for its involvement in the Challenger Baseball Camp program which provides opportunities for physically challenged children to participate in baseball training and competition on specially equipped fields.
