William Jewell's hopes of making a run through the GLVC postseason tournament as the #7 seed were dashed in the 88th minute by nationally ranked and #2 seed Truman State University, who used a beautiful cross and header to edge the Cardinals 2-1 in Kirksville, Missouri on Sunday.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead on Kate Beaver's corner kick (with a 25 mile-per-hour wind behind her) that Lauren Rein was able to head in from four yards in front of the goal in the 55th minute.  The lead stood up until the 67th minute when Truman scored on a 20 yard shot of a deflection, leading to the game-winning goal 21 minutes later.

Jewell finishes the year with a 10-8-1 record, as an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament is virtually impossible.

The Cards finished the year by winning five of their final 8 matches.
