The William Jewell College men's basketball team wrapped up their 2013-2014 season with a Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament first round loss, 82-69 at the hands of Bellarmine University this afternoon in Louisville, K.y.
Bellarmine jumped all over the Cards in the first half and went into halftime leading 46-31.
The Knights led by 20 early in the second half only to see the Cardinals come all the back to tie the game 65-65 with 6:20 to play. Jewell used a key 13-0 run in the middle part of the second half to get them within striking distance.
Bellarmine then went on a 11-0 run with 3:34 to play in the game. Jewell was able to cut the lead to seven but that is as close as they would get down the stretch.
Jewell was led by
Dwight Sistrunk, Jr., who netted 24 points, four assists and four rebounds for the Cardinals. Clint
McCullough added 13 points while Alexander Huston added 12 off the bench.
The Knights managed to out rebound the Cardinals 38-29 as Bellarmine's Jake Thelen pulled down a game high 11 boards.
Jewell closes out the 2013-14 season with an overall record of 11-16 and a 7-11 record in GLVC play.
