The William Jewell College baseball team lost a tough 2-0 battle to Drury University in the second round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon in Westfield, Ind.
The Panthers scored single runs in the third and eighth but those proved to be enough as Jewell had a tough time with Drury starter Austin Faulconer who held the Cards to five hits while striking out 10 in a complete game gem.
Jewell starter
Nick Farleigh was the tough luck loser going eight innings giving up six hits and the two runs. Â
The Cardinals appeared to have something going in the fifth when
Dane Erbst doubled after a
Coleman Waheed single which put runners on second and third with one out. Waheed was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice and
Luke Lucchetti flied out to left field to end the inning. The Cards stranded seven runners in the contest.Â
William Jewell will face University of Indianapolis in a win-or-go-home game at 4:30 p.m. ET.
